Baklava stuffed French toast
Sandwich
maker is an essential appliance at our home. Once upon a time, I used to make just
a chicken sandwich in this. But now, thanks to google and all those foodies out
there, I have quite an array of sandwich maker recipes.
This
baklava French toast is not the syrup soaked dessert variety. It is a mild,
citrus flavoured, almond stuffed breakfast treat. It is easy to prepare and
convenient to pack as lunch. So, let us start. First, combine lightly crushed almonds,
one slice bread, honey, rind and juice of a lemon, cinnamon powder and a pinch
of salt. Pulse in a food processor to make a coarse mixture. Set aside.
Combine the eggs,
milk, vanilla and salt. Beat well with a whisk. Divide the stuffing into 10
portions and sandwich between two slices of bread. Dip the outside of the sandwich
in the egg-milk mixture. Spray sandwich maker plates with non-stick cooking
spray. Bake the sandwiches till browned and cooked through.
